Start over

If you’re in search of a fulfilling life,

Growing requires balance
& your ability to listen to your body.

 

When you need to rest, 
then rest.

 

Eat well.
Be hydrated enough.
Get extra hours of sleep if need be.

 

Don’t over exhaust yourself to success.

& burning out isn’t the same thing as shining.

is the garden of your mind that’s focused on its own progress.

Self-care is beautiful

Self-destruction could also mean that you’re trying to be happy, productive and “being there for people” all the time. Happiness is good, but there’s beauty in giving yourself a warm cry every once in a while when things feel too much. Productivity is good, but there’s beauty in giving yourself a leisurely break from routine when you feel the need to restore your balance by taking a step back.  Being there for people is good, but there’s beauty in allowing yourself to say “no” when you already have enough things that your mind, body, and soul can handle. Self-care is the thing that allows you to shine, to sparkle and to glow without you ever having to burn out by means of overexertion.

Make Self-Care A Priority

Make self-care a weekly task. Don’t save it for times when you’re already burned out. Schedule it. Prioritize it. And most important of all, look forward to it as you go through the daily grind of life. Doesn’t it make the work feel better when you know that tomorrow you’ll be watching a new episode of a TV series that you’re starting to love? Doesn’t it make the stress feel lighter when you know that a week from now you’re going to the movies with someone you love? A massage salon? Or just eating fast food at an empty parking lot with a friend? Life is about getting excited about things that make you feel good because when you don’t then it’ll get dull, boring and depressing. So keep planning things that will make you excited to get through this day. Prioritize self-care at least once a week, a couple of days a month. Your soul will thank you for it because it will be so healthy with the things it’s looking forward to that you will be less sad. That’s what excitement is about: getting less sad and having more space to breathe, love and live.

How To Truly Shine

Reminder: you’re a human being, and your capabilities are limited in a world filled with unlimited possibilities. Learn to take one step back every time you take two steps forward. Learn to know when your body needs to rest and relax to be more efficient for the tomorrows to come. Learn to unlearn the philosophy that over exhausting yourself is the only way to success. Learn the difference between commitment and self-endangerment and also the difference between shining and burning. Because lots of people these days are being taught to work on fumes that they forget about things like self-care and balance. And lots of people are sleeping less and drinking coffee more. And lots of people are burning out before having the chance to truly shine. So learn to drink more water, drink less coffee. Learn to sleep more and exercise more and have balance and self-care in life more because this is how you truly grow, this is how you truly shine.
