7 thoughts on “What is an empath?

  1. I recently read a post from someone stating empaths don’t exist. At first, I was put off by it, having considered myself a bit of an empath but the more I read it, I realized the truth of the statement. Empathetic people do take on what they perceive in others but the only reason they “feel” that way is because past abuse has conditioned them to. Our dysfunction in early childhood allows us to be very aware and observant but then we translate it as taking on those perceptions rather than just acknowledging we “get” that people’s facial expressions, demeanors, and behaviors have a tendency to imply their emotions. It was kind of a revelation to let go of some sort of mystical, metaphysical thinking. What do you think, Juansen?
